01Project overview
C&D & Jinmao · Xiyue in Wuhan brings an entrance and courtyard into the same material composition. An illuminated landscape panel sits at the centre of a symmetrical approach, with further views showing the surface in relation to planting and garden space. The project offers a study of how decorative glass can connect a formal architectural frame with a more layered setting beyond it.

Steps, columns and the canopy establish a measured sequence towards the entrance. The lit panel gives that sequence a focal point without filling the whole opening. In the courtyard views, planting and surrounding surfaces create a less frontal composition. The same material is therefore read first as a destination and then as one plane among several within the garden setting.

03 / A project reading
Decorative glass forms a broad landscape composition within the entrance and garden architecture. Panel lines divide the image without interrupting its overall presence. Attention moves between the larger landscape and the way it meets the frame. Seen beside planting, the glass becomes one layer within the courtyard; seen from the approach, it gives the entrance a clearly defined centre.
04 / A project reading
Pale imagery and warm light sit against darker structural elements. The surface appears relatively quiet from a distance, while the landscape marks become more noticeable in the closer views. Planting in front of and around the composition introduces another layer of depth. These relationships are useful references when considering the scale of an image-led wall and its place within a larger arrival sequence.
05Design highlights
The central panel aligns with the approach, while the steps and canopy extend the composition beyond the glass.
Planting and surrounding planes give the landscape surface a changing foreground in the courtyard views.
The contrast between the lit image and darker architecture makes the panel legible as part of the threshold.
