Blue-lit room and reflective glass

Selected from the POBO project archive.

Colour carried through reflection.

Jiyu SPA in Danyang brings together a series of coloured and reflective interior spaces. Blue light, amber tones and layered glass surfaces give the images a strong atmospheric contrast. The selected photographs range from a broad room composition to smaller seating and enclosure details, providing different distances from which to read the material.

Background / spatial intent

The blue-lit room is organised around a dark reflective centre, with warmer light appearing towards the rear of the view. Reflections make the boundaries between floor, surface and background less immediate. Other photographs introduce seating and amber-toned enclosures, moving the reading back towards the scale of the room’s occupants. The sequence shows contrasting moments rather than a single repeated visual effect.

Application of glass

Printed glass is part of the material language recorded for this project. Decorative surfaces appear alongside seating, passages and enclosure details, with their visual presence shaped by the light and views around them. Broad room photographs emphasise colour and reflection. Closer views reveal the relationship with the furniture and the edges of the surrounding space, bringing the material back to an intimate scale.

Material expression

Blue and amber create a pronounced tonal contrast, while repeated vertical lines and reflections extend the apparent depth of the scenes. Darker areas give the brighter surfaces space to stand out. At closer range, the glass is read alongside furniture and other interior details. These shifts in scale offer a reference for considering colour as part of a spatial sequence, rather than as a finish selected alone.

Details that shape the reading.

Contrasting temperatures

Blue and amber tones establish distinctly different visual moments within the recorded interiors.

Reflected depth

Mirrored views and dark planes make the relationship between the surface and the room more layered.

From room to detail

The views move between a broad atmospheric composition and glass seen close to seating and enclosure elements.
